We know this: Kevin Durant had a special mark on the calendar for his first game with the Warriors against his old team the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Durant and the Warriors started slowly. But after Jerami Grant woke him with a dunk, it was game over.

Jerami Grant, a third-year forward who only arrived in Oklahoma City himself 2 days ago via trade, dunked on Durant with three minutes to go in the first quarter. Grant bumped chests with KD after landing and stared him down.

Durant commented, “When you get dunked on like that, you want to come back and try to ignite your team. It definitely sparked something in me.”

The OKC Thunder led by as many as 10 points in the first quarter. After the dunk woke up Durant, the Warriors led by 25 points at halftime with KD scoring 29 points. The Warriors led by as many as 31 points before coach Steve Kerr called off the dogs.

Kevin Durant finished with 39 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block (on former teammate Russell Westbrook). KD played 31:08 minutes and was 15 of 24 from the field, 7 of 11 treys, and 2 of 3 from the foul line. His 24 field goal attempts led the team.

Stephen Curry was only 6 of 14 (42.9%) from the field and 2 of 6 treys (33.3%) to add 21 points. Steph led the team in free throw attempts with 8, making 7 (87.%). In 30:03 minutes played, Curry added 7 assists, 2 steals and 1 rebound.
